A day off work isn't really a day off

I took Friday off from work to stay home with Erin.  She is still in quite a bit of pain from the surgery, but she is doing great.  Her mom stayed over Thursday night to help with the kids since Erin won't be able to pick up the kids for six weeks.

Aubrey has been really fussy lately.  She had a slight fever which I'm pretty sure is just teething.  It could be an ear infection, but she isn't showing any of the other signs to make me think it is an ear infection.  Erin would normally look in her ears to see if they are infected, but she's all doped up so she's not really in a state to do that.  Getting the kids ready in the morning and dropped off at daycare was pretty easy.

Speaking of daycare, Erin got a call from one of the ladies that works at the daycare and told us that the lady that runs the daycare is going to stop in December!  This obviously is not good for us.  It is not easy finding someone that is willing to take four kids.  The lady that called said that she would do it from her house so we're going to look into that.  Erin said she had a few other possibilities as well.  Either way, a change like this will not be easy on us or the kids (especially Calvin and Brayden).

When we moved to Williamsburg earlier this year we had to switch daycare's.  Calvin and Brayden were not happy about going to a new place each day.  It took them a few weeks before they were able to adjust.  I suppose things like this are good for them...builds character.

Oh, and the lady the runs the daycare didn't say anything to me when I picked them up.  I wonder when she is actually going to let us know that she plans on stopping daycare.

I did a whole bunch of yardwork on Friday.  There were a number of low spots that needed to be filled in with dirt.  I almost got all of the dirt spread.  It will probably only take another hour or so to finish everything up.

I came in a few times to check on Erin and she was doing well.  I also had my cell phone on me in case she needed me while I was outside.  She will probably watch more TV during the weeks of her recovery than the entire rest of the year.

One of the hard things is that Erin has gone up to the bedroom while the kids are up.  This is to prevent the kids from jumping on her.  Calvin and Brayden definitely want to see their mama.  One of Erin's sisters came over Friday evening and stayed overnight to help out.  I'm not sure how I would be able to do everything without the help.  By Monday Erin should be able to move around enough to help make food for the kids and things like that.  That should make things a little easier.

Brayden and Calvin have these "Cars" which they used when they started learning to walk and now the ride on all around the house.  My oldest brother got these for them for their first birthday.  One is Lightning McQueen and the other is Mater.  These may be the best gifts they have received.  They still ride around on these things.  Brayden sometimes likes to run into Calvin when he is on his car.  This upsets Calvin greatly.  I can already see them picking on each other and doing things just because they know it irritates the other.  Brothers.  I should know how it works since I have two older brothers.  I was typically on the receiving end of most of the picking since I was the youngest.  It will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes and Carter and Aubrey get older.
